Bawumia Storms EOCO And NIB To Demand Release Of Wontumi

Forme Vice President and flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2024 general elections Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has visited the offices of Economic and organize crime office (EOCO) and National Investigations Bureau (NIB) as part of efforts to secure the bail for detained Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP Bernard Anti Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

The visit of the former Vice President follows a similar visit by the Minority in Parliament led by its leader Alexander Afenyo Markin yesterday at the EOCO headquarters.

The Minority MPs and other bigwigs of the party staged a protest at the offices of EOCO after failing to speak with the leadership of EOCO as the both the Executives Director and his deputies were not present to speak with them.

The Vice President was giving access to the NIB, but failed to see Chairman Wontumi as officials argue that, they cannot give access because he is not their suspect and it is only EOCO that can grant access to him.

Speaking to the media, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia indicated that, the bail conditions set by EOCO is unrealistic and it is meant to punish him.
