Brenda Biya, daughter of Cameroon’s long-serving president Paul Biya, has made headlines after publicly calling on Cameroonians not to vote for her father in the upcoming October 2025 election.

In a TikTok live session, Brenda—popularly known by her online moniker “King Nasty”—blamed her father’s 43-year rule for widespread poverty, unemployment, and stagnation in the Central African nation.

“This country has been in the same place for decades. People are suffering, there are no jobs, and nothing is changing,” she said, urging citizens to resist re-electing her 92-year-old father.

Paul Biya, who has ruled since 1982, is one of the world’s longest-serving leaders. His tenure has been marked by repeated allegations of authoritarianism, corruption, and disputed elections.

Brenda’s comments are unprecedented in African politics, marking the first known instance where the child of a sitting president has publicly urged voters not to re-elect their parent. Her outburst has generated heated debate across Cameroon and beyond, with some hailing her boldness and others questioning her credibility.

Critics point out that Brenda, who resides abroad and lives a life of luxury, has long had a strained relationship with her family. They argue that her privileged circumstances may distance her from the daily realities faced by ordinary Cameroonians.

Still, her remarks add to growing pressure on President Biya’s administration amid mounting calls for political transition and democratic reforms. With elections just weeks away, the intervention of his daughter introduces an unusual and controversial dimension to the already tense political climate.
