Prominent broadcast journalist and media personality Bridget Otoo has officially announced her appointment as Presidential Staffer in Government Communications, marking a major career transition from media to public service under the administration of President John Dramani Mahama.

Taking to Facebook, the former Metro TV anchor shared an emotional reflection on how she missed the January 7 swearing-in ceremony due to a sudden health emergency, even after years of ardent support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its leadership.

■ "So It Begins…"

In her heartfelt post, Otoo revealed that what should have been a day of celebration was instead spent in a hospital bed, after a routine checkup turned into weeks of admission. Yet, she remained connected to the historic moment through live updates from her husband Van and his cousin Richard, who attended the ceremony.

■ A Journey of Loyalty and Grit

Otoo noted that her appointment as a Presidential Staffer, Government Communications, is not just a political nod but the result of "grit, dedication, and hard work."

She extended deep appreciation to President Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama for their “consideration and constant check-ins” during her recovery, and acknowledged key allies like Joyce Bawa Mogtari, Stan Xoese Dogbe, and Minister Felix Kwakye Fosu, who welcomed her into the government communication fold.

■ A Voice for the Grassroots

Never forgetting her activist roots, Bridget also gave a special shout-out to the NDC grassroots supporters and foot soldiers, describing them as her inspiration and motivation to serve with humility and purpose.

From Newsroom to Nation-Building

As she assumes her new role at the Seat of Government, Otoo pledged to help shape the NDC's communication strategy, ensuring that the administration’s message reaches all corners of the nation.

“It’s an incredible privilege,” she wrote. “One I intend to prove myself worthy of.”

With her blend of media experience and political conviction, Bridget Otoo’s next chapter promises to be a powerful one—both behind the scenes and on the national stage.
