Fuel Prices Set to Drop from June 16 as Government Suspends GH¢1 Energy Levy.
Fuel prices to drop from June 16, 2025, with the suspension of the energy sector levy.

Ghanaians can expect a welcome reprieve at the fuel pumps starting June 16, 2025, following the government’s decision to suspend the GH¢1.0 Energy Sector Recovery Levy. The move—part of a broader effort to ease the financial burden on citizens—marks the seventh consecutive fuel price drop since February.
According to the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC), the new pricing window is likely to see:
Petrol prices fall to around GH¢11.77 per litre, a reduction of up to 2.25%
Diesel dropping by as much as 4.3% to GH¢12.13 per litre
LPG decreasing by 3.2%, averaging GH¢13.30 per kilogram
This downward trend is largely attributed to the Ghanaian cedi’s continued appreciation against the US dollar, cushioning domestic prices against rising international crude oil costs. The global oil market has recently been affected by escalating tensions in the Middle East, particularly between Israel and Iran, which could still reverse gains in the coming months.
COMAC cautions that if the upward pressure on crude oil prices continues, this could influence local pump prices by July. For now, however, the levy suspension offers short-term relief for households, transport operators, and industries already navigating economic challenges.
