The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) have jointly issued a Public Notice announcing the extension of operational hours at two major regional airports: Prempeh I International Airport (PIA) in Kumasi and Tamale International Airport (TIA).

This move, effective June 1, 2025, marks a significant step in improving accessibility and flexibility in domestic air travel within Ghana.

New Operational Hours

  • Prempeh I International Airport (Kumasi):
    8:00 PM – 11:00 PM

  • Tamale International Airport (Tamale):
    6:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Industry Notice and Travel Impact

In line with international aviation protocol, a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued by the GCAA to all airlines operating within the country and beyond.

Domestic carriers have been officially advised to increase flight frequencies to and from both airports to reflect the newly extended hours.

This change is expected to ease travel congestion, support economic activities in the Ashanti and Northern regions, and give passengers more flight options, especially for evening travel.

Advice to the Public

The general public is advised to take note of the new schedules and plan their travel accordingly. The extension reflects a growing demand for regional connectivity and a commitment to improving air transport infrastructure across Ghana.
