Ghanaian gospel artist Evangelist Akwasi Nyarko has made an emotional appeal to President John Dramani Mahama, First Lady Lordina Mahama, and the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), pleading for financial assistance amid worsening personal hardship.

Gospel Star Reveals Struggles With Feeding and Family Care

In a video shared on social media, the well-known gospel singer disclosed that he is currently unable to feed himself and his children, describing his situation as desperate and unbearable.

“I’m hungry. My children and I are struggling. I supported the NDC with my gift, but it has come at a huge cost. I’m now paying the price,” he said, his voice heavy with emotion.

According to Evangelist Nyarko, his hardship has deepened in recent months, making daily life extremely difficult.

Political Support to NDC Cost Him His Career

Evangelist Akwasi Nyarko revealed that his suffering is tied to his open endorsement of the NDC during the 2024 general elections, where he composed and released a campaign song in support of the party.

He stated that his affiliation with the NDC — especially as an artist from the Ashanti Region, a known stronghold of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) — has caused a major setback in his music career.

The singer claimed his career has declined sharply, with event invitations, music promotions, and fan support dwindling because of political bias and perceived partisanship.

Appeal to Mahama and NDC Leadership

Evangelist Nyarko’s public plea is directed at President Mahama, his wife Lordina, and other key figures in the NDC, asking them to recognize his contribution and support him in this moment of need.

He reminded them that his artistic support was given in faith and hope for a better future, and now urges the party to not forget those who sacrificed for its cause.
