Government has inaugurated an 11-member Ministerial Oversight Committee to spearhead Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with prominent figures including Stan Dogbe, Kofi Adams, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and football legend Abedi Pele named among its members.

The committee was unveiled at the Jubilee House on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah. Government has allocated GH¢150 million to support the Black Stars’ participation in the tournament. The committee will oversee the effective use of these funds, ensuring Ghana’s team is adequately prepared both on and off the pitch.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, marking the first time the tournament expands to 48 teams. Ghana’s preparations are seen as vital to ensuring the Black Stars make a strong impact on the global stage.
