Lordina Mahama to address Global Prayer Service for children at UNGA
“A Moment of Hope”: Lordina Mahama Joins World Leaders to Inspire Action for Children
Ghana’s First Lady, Her Excellency Mrs. Lordina Mahama, will deliver the keynote address at the 7th Annual Prayer Service for Children, scheduled to take place on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
The service, organised by World Vision International in partnership with other global faith-based and humanitarian organisations, is set for Monday, 22 September 2025, from 08:00 to 09:00 ET at the Church Center for the United Nations, Tillman Chapel.
This year’s gathering, themed “A Moment of Hope”, will highlight six dimensions of hope—compassion, resilience, purpose, joy, wisdom, and spiritual life. The focus is to inspire global leaders to reflect and take decisive action for the welfare of the world’s most vulnerable children, particularly amid ongoing global crises.
Mrs. Mahama’s participation underscores her long-standing advocacy for children’s rights and wellbeing. Her efforts in promoting access to healthcare, education, and social protection for children have drawn international recognition and cemented her reputation as a leading voice for child welfare.
Other notable speakers include Rev. Andrew J. Morley, President and CEO of World Vision International, and Mrs. Cindy McCain, Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme.
The prayer service will bring together global leaders, faith leaders, and humanitarian organisations in a unified call to action to protect children and support their growth and development.
The event will be livestreamed on YouTube and accessible worldwide via this link: Watch Live.
