Samara Company Limited Hosts Successful Free Dental Screening in Tanoso

Samara Company Limited teamed up with Abrefi Women and Children Hospital to organize a complimentary dental health screening at Tanoso Health Center. The event sought to encourage preventive oral care practices among local residents.

This community outreach was held in connection with the annual World Oral Health Day celebrations, which take place every March 20. The focus was on identifying and addressing dental issues early, including problems like cavities, gingivitis, and various oral infections.

Dennis Kwame Osei, the Sales and Marketing Manager at Samara Company Limited, described the effort as a key element of the company's Corporate Social Responsibility efforts. He emphasized the goal of supporting the community via health awareness and accessible screening.

“We partnered with Abrefi Women and Children Hospital as well as Tanoso Health Center for this exercise as part of activities marking World Oral Health Day, which is celebrated on 20th March every year.

“Prior to the day, Samara Company Limited, as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility, decided to embark on a dental outreach program starting today, Friday, 20th March, and continuing on 24th March, 2026. We collaborated with the Dental Unit of Abrefi Women and Children Hospital and Tanoso Health Center for today’s program." He disclosed

According to him, the session went beyond basic checks by delivering thorough guidance on maintaining oral hygiene, such as brushing twice a day and scheduling routine dental visits.

“Our main objective is to give back to our cherished customers and the general public by providing education on dental health. We also offered free dental screening, and we believe that through this exercise, the people of Tanoso and Techiman at large will prioritize their oral hygiene.” He said.

He added that participation far surpassed initial projections.

“We initially expected about 200 participants, but we are proud to say that we recorded over 800 people who turned up for the dental health screening." He revealed.

Dr. Kwame Affram Koranteng, a dentist from Abrefi Women and Children Hospital, underscored the value of the program in supporting worldwide oral health promotion.

“World Oral Health Day is celebrated annually, and as dental health practitioners, we undertake sensitization and screening activities for residents as part of the celebrations. This year, we are fortunate to have sponsorship from Samara Company Limited, which has made the program a success.'' He explained.

He acknowledged that awareness about dental care remains limited in many areas, but remained hopeful that initiatives like this one are making a difference.

“The theme for this year’s celebration is ‘A Happy Mouth is a Happy Life.’ We have realized that education on dental health is relatively low, but through this program, we have been able to educate participants on the importance of brushing their teeth twice daily and visiting the dental clinic regularly," Dr. Kwame Affram Koranteng told our reporter.

Dr. Koranteng urged residents to make use of available medical resources for better oral care.

“I would like to encourage everyone to prioritize their oral health. The good news is that the National Health Insurance Scheme also covers dental services, so people should take advantage of it and visit dental clinics for regular check-ups.'' He advised.

Fabea Mavis, the Health Promotion Officer at Tanoso Health Center, praised the collaboration for its positive effects, especially on younger attendees.

“With the support of Samara Company Limited and Abrefi Women and Children Hospital, we have received valuable education on oral health, and I am particularly impressed with the high attendance, especially the number of children who were screened. I strongly believe they will take this education seriously and prioritize their dental health.” She disclosed.

Participants shared their gratitude toward Samara Company Limited and the collaborating partners, noting that the event not only included free examinations but also greatly improved their knowledge of effective oral care routines.

Attendees were also given oral hygiene items by Samara Company Limited to help maintain the practices learned during the screenings.

Management of expressed their dedication to continuing these kinds of health-focused activities to enhance well-being across Techiman and nearby areas.
