Former Board Chairman of GACL, Paul Adom-Otchere

Former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Paul Adom-Otchere, has been released from custody by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), following the approval of revised bail terms.

His release on Friday, August 1, came after the Jospong Group of Companies stepped in to act as surety, resolving earlier challenges Adom-Otchere faced in meeting the initial bail conditions, including his inability to provide landed property as collateral.

The former board chair was released in the company of his legal counsel, including former Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame. However, sources confirm that Adom-Otchere has since been recalled by the OSP to complete outstanding administrative formalities related to the ongoing investigation.

In a statement confirming the development, the OSP stated that “the revised terms, which meet the objectives of the original bail conditions, have been secured by the Jospong Group of Companies.” It also stressed that the matter remains under active investigation.

Adom-Otchere is under investigation over a controversial revenue assurance contract between the GACL and a private logistics firm. The contract was allegedly awarded without full board approval—raising red flags that prompted the OSP’s intervention.

The case has triggered significant public interest, particularly due to Adom-Otchere’s prominent role in media and governance. His arrest and subsequent release form part of a broader probe into procurement practices and corporate governance at state-owned enterprises.

The OSP has not disclosed when Adom-Otchere is expected to complete the remaining procedures, but sources suggest further questioning is imminent.
