Speaking in Accra on Wednesday, Mr. Abebe Haile-Gabriel promised that the FAO and the Ghanaian government would continue to work closely together.
The two reaffirmed the long-standing FAO-Ghana partnership and discussed ways to work together on priority areas for joint action, especially the government's Feed Ghana Programme, which aims to increase agricultural output, generate employment, and lower food imports. “The two of us have a common goal: achieving food security and nutrition for everybody,” the minister said.

Due to the FAO Ghana country office and its regional headquarters for Africa located in Accra, this is the largest UN agency in Ghana.

“We see FAO’s Regional Office for Africa as a huge blessing to the nation. This is an opportunity for us to impact the lives of the people,” Mr. Opoku noted.
