Amaechi Dumps APC, Declares Nigeria Destroyed and Calls for Total Change

Rotimi Amaechi, once Nigeria’s Minister of Transportation, has decided to leave the All Progressives Congress. He believes Nigeria is in ruins and needs a total change. Amaechi spoke on Wednesday in Abuja during the launch of the African Democratic Congress’s temporary leadership. He accused the APC and the electoral body of working together to rig upcoming votes.
“Nigeria is destroyed. People struggle to eat. They can’t afford food. Money has lost value, and inflation is out of control,” he said. Amaechi revealed he left the APC late Tuesday night. He was surprised he hadn’t already been kicked out, despite warning party leaders not to invite him to more meetings.
“You can’t stay in a club where most are stealing and stay silent,” he added. Amaechi explained that his push for change is not just about replacing the government. It’s about fixing Nigeria itself. “We need to start a movement, not just form a party. We want to take power on our own, not give it away,” he said.
About President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, Amaechi was clear. “I never thought Tinubu could lead Nigeria. Many want Buhari to return,” he stated. Comparing today’s economy with Buhari’s time, Amaechi said the naira has plummeted. “A dollar was about ₦460 or 500, but now it’s ₦1,580. That’s over a 100% drop,” he explained.
When asked if this sharp decline was intentional, Amaechi responded, “Whether it’s a plan or not, any government that ignores the people is not doing its job. Tinubu said he’s not here to make Nigerians happy.”
He also spoke about his own political goals. Amaechi said, “I have every right to be ambitious. I am not overly greedy.”
