Asiedu Nketiah Chairs Newly Inaugurated GPHA Board: Minister Tasks Team to Drive Port Reforms
Transport Minister Swears in 9-Member Board to Spearhead Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority’s Strategic Transformation

A new nine-member Board of Directors for the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) has officially been sworn into office by the Minister for Transport, Hon. Joseph Nikpe Bukari, on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
The newly constituted Board is chaired by Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Other members include Brigadier General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono, the Director General of GPHA; Mr. Zumah Tebon, Director of Port – Tema; and Capt. Richmond Quayeson, Director of Port – Takoradi.
The board also includes Professor Ransford Edward Gyampo, Acting CEO of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority; Mr. Stephane Abbas Meizan, President of the Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Hon. Dan Abdul-Latif, MP for Ablekuma Central; Mr. Adam Imoru Ayarna, Vice President of the Shipowners and Agents Association of Ghana; Ebenezer Eric Perry, 1st Union Trustee; and Mrs. Mabel Sagoe, Chief Director at the Ministry of Transport.
In his charge to the Board, Hon. Bukari urged members to carry out their responsibilities with integrity and innovation. He emphasized the need for bold reforms to solidify Ghana’s ambition of becoming the leading trade and logistics hub in the sub-region.
“Your mandate comes at a time when the maritime sector is undergoing dynamic shifts. We need forward-thinking strategies that will attract investment, improve port efficiency, and enhance our global competitiveness,” the Minister noted.
Responding on behalf of the Board, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in them and assured the Minister and stakeholders of their commitment to excellence.
“We intend to work as a unified team, collaborating with all relevant players to modernize port operations, boost investor confidence, and ensure Ghana’s ports deliver value to the national economy,” he said.
The new board is expected to play a critical role in shaping the future of port operations, trade facilitation, and maritime logistics across the country.
