Coroner Recommends Prosecution of Nurse Over Mohbad’s Death

The Lagos State Coroner’s Court in Ikorodu has recommended the criminal prosecution of auxiliary nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe in connection with the death of popular singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad.

Delivering the findings on Friday, July 11, 2025, Magistrate C.A. Shotobi ruled that Ogedengbe acted with gross negligence by administering an injection without a doctor’s prescription. Although the court found no evidence of foul play or homicide, it deemed the nurse’s actions both "unlawful and professionally negligent."

Citing Section 29 of the Lagos State Coroner Law, the court advised the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution to initiate legal proceedings against Ogedengbe for unlicensed medical practice and gross negligence.

Ogedengbe had been arrested following Mohbad’s controversial death on September 11, 2023. During a March 2025 hearing, she testified that the singer began vomiting after she gave him a tetanus injection.
