Ibrahim Mahama, born on January 29, 1971, in Piase, Northern Region of Ghana, is an accomplished entrepreneur and philanthropist. As the younger brother of former President John Dramani Mahama, Ibrahim has carved a niche for himself, emerging as a formidable force in Ghana's industrial market. 

Early Life and Education

Raised in a family deeply committed to public service, Ibrahim's father, Emmanuel Adama Mahama, was the inaugural Minister of State for the Northern Region under the presidency of President Kwame Nkrumah. His mother, Joyce Tamakloe, hailed from Keta within the Volta Region. Ibrahim pursued his education at Tamale Senior High School before making his way to the United Kingdom for studies at the College of North West London.

After finishing his studies, he was engaged in London property development before he came back to Ghana in 1997 to start his entrepreneurial journey.

 Entrepreneurial Ventures

In 1997, Ibrahim founded Engineers & Planners (E&P), which is now the largest indigenous-owned mining company in West Africa, employing more than 3,000 Ghanaians. E&P has played an instrumental role in various mining ventures, like activities in the Damang and Tarkwa mines.

Expanding his business venture, Ibrahim established Dzata Cement Limited, Ghana's first home-grown cement manufacturer, with an annual capacity of 2 million tons. He also owns Asutsuare Poultry Farms, which lays around 150,000 eggs and delivers 10,000 broilers daily.

Philanthropic Ventures

Ibrahim's commitment to social progress is expressed in his philanthropy. Following his mother's death from breast cancer, he started the Joyce Tamakloe Cancer Foundation, which provides free mammograms to over 1,000 women and collects cancer treatment funds in Ghana.

He has also extended his hand to education infrastructure, such as constructing a 550-bed dormitory for Tamale Senior High School after the old one was destroyed by fire. His work also entails the support of Northern and Zongo communities through education, healthcare, and employment programs.

Recognition and Personal Life

Ibrahim's efforts have earned him several awards, such as the 2018 African Achievers Awards African Industrialist of the Year and the 2022 Exclusive Men of the Year Africa Awards Ultimate Man of the Year.

Ibrahim is married to Oona Mahama, and they have three children. Notably, Ibrahim was the first Ghanaian to own a Bombardier 604 private jet, which he fittingly named "Dzata."
