NPP Files Writ At High Court To Vary Wontumi's Bail Condition
The legal team of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) have successfully filed a writ at the High Court in Accra seeking to vary the bail condition set by EOCO.

The legal team of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) have successfully filed a writ at an Accra High Court seeking to vary the bail condition set by the Economic and Organize Crime Office (EOCO).
The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Bosiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi had been on remand for 3 days now after he was picked up by officials of EOCO on his way home from the police CID.
Chairman Wontumi who still remains in the custody of EOCO was granted bail on the condition that, he provide two sureties to the amount of 50 million Cedis.
An amount the leadership of the NPP described as unreasonable. Both the Minority MPs and former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia failed in their attempt to secure his release.
But it appears the NPP now want to use the law Court to make sure that, Chairman Wontumi is granted bail. A writ has been filed by lawyer Gary Nimako at the Accra High Court today 30th May 2025.
The case is scheduled to be heard on Tuesday 3rd June 2025 where lawyers for Chairman Wontumi are expected to move their motion and argue their case.
