NPP Youth to protest against alleged state harassment Sept 23

The National Youth Wing of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced plans to stage a major protest on Tuesday, 23 September 2025, to defend what it describes as democracy, freedom, and justice.

Dubbed “Yɛn Suro Ahunahuna” (We Resist Fear), the march is scheduled to begin at 6:00 a.m. from Obra Spot at Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra.

In a statement, the organisers described the march as a bold stand against what they allege to be state-sponsored harassment, intimidation, and abuse of power. They urged all citizens who value liberty and accountability to join the demonstration.

“This march is a bold stand against intimidation and oppression. We call on all patriots, youth, and citizens who believe in liberty and accountability to join us as we make our voices heard. Together, we will resist fear. Together, we will protect our democracy,” the statement read.

The protest is expected to attract thousands of NPP youth activists and supporters, as well as members of civil society who share concerns about the state of governance in the country.

Security agencies are anticipated to be on high alert to ensure order and public safety during the march.

The NPP Youth Wing maintains that the demonstration is not only a political activity but also a civic duty to defend democratic principles in the face of alleged state excesses.
