President John Dramani Mahama has announced a BROADER government strategy to revitalize Ghana's cocoa industry in order to boost the nation's output and empower rural communities in the cocoa value chain.
These include the construction of cocoa processing facilities in cocoa-growing regions, the expansion of cocoa farms by 200,000 hectares, and a notable rise in the price for cocoa producers.
As part of his "Thank You" visit to the region, President Mahama spoke to the chiefs and residents of the Ahafo Region in Goaso on Saturday, May 31. He stated that the COCOBOD and other stakeholders were still in talks to announce an improved cocoa producer price in August.

“To cocoa farmers, the COCOBOD Chief Executive has informed me that in August, they will announce the new cocoa producer price, and I can assure you, the price is going to be a very, very, very good price,” he assured.
The program to improve the cocoa sector is a component of a larger plan for the agriculture industry as well as the Bono East, Bono, and Ahafo regions; this plan depends on the development of infrastructure and human capital.
The President claims that the three areas that were separated from the former Brong Ahafo Region in 2019 have significant potential for the overall development of the nation and will receive the necessary attention.
When President Mahama spoke to separate durbars of chiefs and people from the three regions in Kintampo, Sunyani, and Goaso on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, respectively, he made this promise.
President Mahama claimed that the government was consciously trying to revive the cocoa industry, which had suffered in recent years.
Plans are in motion to revitalize the cocoa industry, which has collapsed. President Mahama promised that our diligent farmers would receive incentives to boost cocoa production.
"We want to raise the income of our farmers by adding 200,000 hectares of cocoa to Ghana's output."
