PRESIDENT TINUBU ESTABLISHES INTER-MINISTERIAL COMMITTEE FOR STATE FUNERAL OF FORMER PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has authorized the formation of an Inter-Ministerial Committee to oversee the state funeral arrangements for former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.
The Committee, led by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, CON, is responsible for planning and executing a fitting state burial for the late elder statesman. The Committee comprises:
i. Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy
ii. Minister of Budget and Economic Planning
iii. Minister of Defence
iv. Minister of Information and National Orientation
v. Minister of Works
vi. Minister of Interior
vii. Minister of the Federal Capital Territory
viii. Minister of Housing and Urban Development
ix. Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare
x. Minister of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy
xi. National Security Adviser
xii. Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination
xiii. Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters
xiv. Inspector General of Police
xv. Director-General, Department of State Services (DSS)
xvi. Chief of Defence Staff
The General Services Office (GSO), Office of the Permanent Secretary, will serve as the Committee’s Secretariat.
To honor the late President Buhari, President Tinubu has directed all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to open condolence registers at their office entrances for public tributes. A central condolence register for the diplomatic community and the general public will also be available at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja.
