Shatta Wale Detained by EOCO over Lamborghini saga, granted GHC10m bail

Ghanaian dancehall superstar, Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has been detained by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) over issues relating to his seized Lamborghini Urus vehicle.

According to EOCO’s official statement dated 21st August 2025, Shatta Wale arrived at the Office around 3pm on Wednesday and refused to cooperate until his lawyer was present—a right that was duly accorded him. He eventually faced interrogation which lasted until 9pm.

EOCO confirmed that the artiste was granted bail of GHC10 million with two sureties to be justified. The Office noted that once sureties are presented and verified, Shatta Wale will be released from custody.

The statement further disclosed that Shatta Wale has so far been unable to identify the person from whom he purchased the luxury vehicle. He reportedly claimed he bought it from “the Street” through an individual possibly named “Zak,” who had contacted him via WhatsApp. However, he said he no longer has the contact details of this individual.

EOCO added that Shatta Wale did not possess any receipts or transfer documents to prove ownership of the Lamborghini Urus, except for a customs declaration document in his possession, which bears the name of one Nana Kwabena Amuah, currently serving time in jail.

Meanwhile, the musician’s manager, Sammy ‘Flex’ Baah, has assured fans that lawyers are working around the clock to meet the bail conditions.

Dozens of fans gathered outside EOCO’s premises yesterday evening, chanting for the release of the multiple award-winning artiste. Social media has since been flooded with the hashtag #FreeShattaWale, with supporters demanding his immediate release.
