The Importation of Chanfan Machine should be banned to stop Illegal Mining -- Twifo Atti Morkwa DCE.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Twifo Atti Morkwa, Hon. Isaac Yawson has urged Government to ban the importation of chanfan machines in order to eradicate illegal mining canker.
Hon. Yawson told the media that, he has instructed the Police and taskforce in burning of the illegal miners chafans in two occasions within his district but he thinks the banning will be the absolute solution.
" The District Security Council had detained one individual connected to illegal mining activities and seized seven pumping machines which are now in police custody, we are doing our best as government officials and individuals to help stop the illegal mining but the best solution is to ban the importation of the chanfan machine which is used by the gamlamseyers." He stated.
He he lastly appealed to the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources to deploy Blue Water Guards to the district and to advocate for new legislation in Parliament aimed at prohibiting the importation of illegal mining equipments.
