Super Eagles Players Gear Up for CHAN 2025 with High Spirits

Twenty-eight Super Eagles players are currently training intensely at the team’s camp in Ikenne, Ogun, as they vie for spots in the final squad for the 8th African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2025. The tournament, exclusive to domestic league players, will be hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda in August.
On July 4, Head Coach Eric Chelle announced a 35-man provisional list for the Super Eagles B squad. According to Promise Efoghe, the team’s media officer, the players are highly motivated, balancing excitement and pressure as they aim to impress the coaching staff.
Players speaking after Wednesday’s training session described the sessions as intense, with high expectations in camp. Remo Stars’ Nduka Junior noted, “The trainings are a good test, and the pressure is high, but the boys are ready for the challenge.” Rivers United’s Aniekeme Okon highlighted the team’s high spirits, saying, “It’s an opportunity to showcase our skills. We’re all pushing to make the final list.” Ikorodu City’s Leonard Ngenge expressed gratitude for the chance, adding, “I’m doing my best to stay on the coach’s radar.”
Nigeria, runners-up in 2018, are in Group D alongside defending champions Senegal, Sudan, and Congo. The Super Eagles will play Senegal and Sudan at Amman Stadium on Zanzibar Island, with their final group match against Congo at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
