Ahead of August 15 Launch: Dangote Refinery Receives CNG Trucks for Fuel Distribution

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has officially taken delivery of the first batch of its 4,000 compressed natural gas (CNG)-powered trucks, marking a major step toward its nationwide fuel distribution programme set to commence on August 15.

The arrival of the trucks signals the refinery’s commitment to reducing dependence on diesel-powered vehicles while promoting cleaner, more environmentally friendly transportation. Powered by compressed natural gas, these trucks are expected to cut greenhouse gas emissions significantly, aligning with Nigeria’s push for a greener energy transition.

In a statement, the refinery’s management noted that the CNG trucks will be used for the distribution of refined petroleum products across the country, improving efficiency and lowering operational costs.

Industry experts believe this move could have a transformative effect on Nigeria’s fuel supply chain by reducing distribution bottlenecks and improving last-mile delivery of petroleum products.

The Dangote Refinery, which began operations earlier this year, is already being hailed as a game-changer for Nigeria’s energy sector, with its capacity to meet local demand and export surplus refined products.

With the official fuel distribution programme only days away, the arrival of these trucks has heightened anticipation among stakeholders and consumers alike.
