Bandits Kill Two Soldiers, Two Vigilantes in Ambush Near Plateau Community

Armed bandits have reportedly killed two soldiers and two vigilantes near the Dogo Ruwa community in the Bashar district of Wase Local Government Area, Plateau State.

The attack occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, July 29, 2025, after the security team was ambushed while tracking the assailants following an attempted assault in the area.

Local residents said the gunmen seized the soldiers’ rifles after the ambush.

A traditional leader in the area, Abdullahi Yakuku—who oversees the Safiyo region that includes Dogon Ruwa—confirmed the incident to Daily Trust. He condemned the attack and noted that the security personnel were caught off guard.

“There was intelligence that the bandits were planning to attack Dogon Ruwa, so residents promptly alerted security forces. The team mobilized and moved toward the area where the bandits were reportedly sighted,” Yakuku explained.

“Unfortunately, the bandits had already laid an ambush. As the security team approached, they opened fire, killing two soldiers and two vigilantes.”

Another resident, Ibrahim Sale, added that the attackers also made away with the fallen soldiers’ rifles and uniforms.

The incident has sparked fear and tension among residents of Dogon Ruwa and neighboring communities.
