Cecilia Dapaah's case is reopened by EOCO's new leadership
According to Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng, the EOCO has reopened the case against former Minister of Sanitation Cecilia Abena Dapaah after receiving a new request from its new leadership.

According to Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng, the EOCO has reopened the case against former Minister of Sanitation Cecilia Abena Dapaah after receiving a new request from its new leadership.
Since money laundering is a collateral offense that must be based on a predicate offense, EOCO did not have the authority to start an investigation into the matter because it could not base its investigation on any predicate offense. Accordingly, in May 2024, EOCO returned the entire docket to the OSP.

However, in a letter dated May 14, 2025, Mr. Kissi Agyebeng stated that the new EOCO leadership asked the OSP to return the docket to EOCO for review and to start the investigation.
He claimed that the OSP returned a duplicate docket of the case to EOCO under the guise of a communication dated May 29, 2025.
"The docket is a useful background resource for EOCO to start its own investigation in respect of aspects of the case for which the OSP does not have a direct mandate," he stated. He declared that the OSP would fully cooperate with EOCO in its review, investigation, and likely next steps.
