Court remands NPP’s Abronye DC, next hearing set for 12 Sept.
Abronye in Custody as Accra Circuit Court Adjourns Case

The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has been remanded into custody by the Accra Circuit Court.
Abronye, who was arrested earlier this week for alleged offensive conduct deemed conducive to the breach of public peace, made his first court appearance on Monday. After hearing the case, the court ordered that he be remanded and set 12 September 2025 as the date for his next appearance.
The outspoken politician was taken into custody by the Ghana Police Service on 8 September and has since attracted widespread public attention. His arrest came amid recent reports that he had filed asylum applications in eight countries — including the United States, United Kingdom, and Germany — citing political persecution and threats to his life.
The Police have remained tight-lipped on the details of the alleged conduct that led to his arrest. However, the case has already stirred debate within political and legal circles, given Abronye’s reputation for fiery public commentary and frequent clashes with opponents.
As he awaits his next court date, speculation continues over how the proceedings could affect both his political career and the broader discourse on freedom of expression and public order in Ghana.
