“I Won’t Be Silenced” - Prof. Gyampo Fires Back at Recruitment & Travel Allegations
Ghana Shippers Authority CEO, Prof Ransford Gyampo

Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority, Professor Ransford Gyampo, has vehemently denied recent social media accusations of unauthorised recruitment and lavish international travel, describing them as false, politically motivated, and part of a broader effort to silence his critical voice on national governance.

In a statement titled “Responding to Baseless Allegations Against Me,” the outspoken academic and public servant declared his intention to "set the records straight" and reaffirmed his commitment to transparency and accountability in public service.

“Lies become truth in the psyche of many people in Ghana when they aren’t corrected,” he wrote, justifying his decision to respond despite calls to ignore the allegations.

Addressing the claim that he had recruited 28 women and two men into the Authority, Prof. Gyampo clarified that he has no hand in recruitment processes, which are managed by an independent private agency following a rigorous, merit-based procedure.

On allegations of excessive international travel, the CEO stated that although his role requires some travel, he had only undertaken four trips out of 38 opportunities—all of which were approved by the Chief of Staff. He also emphasised his personal frugality, saying:

“I have never travelled in First Class or Business Class. I remain the only CEO in Ghana who travels on an economy ticket.”

Prof. Gyampo further disclosed that his lawyers, along with others acting independently, had taken up the matter and would pursue legal action this week against those behind what he called “baseless allegations.”

Despite the controversy, the former University of Ghana political science lecturer remains resolute.

“Baseless allegations have never been enough to silence me. I will always speak my mind on every national issue while focusing on my core job of championing the interests of shippers forcefully and proactively,” he affirmed.

The professor concluded by thanking his supporters and reiterating his dedication to public service and principled advocacy.

As legal proceedings are set to begin, public interest in the case remains high especially given Prof. Gyampo’s reputation for bold commentary on governance and public accountability.
