Fuel Prices Set to Rise as July Opens: First Hike Since February, Says COMAC

Motorists and households should brace for higher fuel costs as projections from the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) indicate an imminent price increase at retail stations beginning the first pricing window of July, which took effect yesterday, July 1, 2025.

According to COMAC, the expected adjustments will see petrol prices rise by 2 percent, diesel by 5 percent, and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) by 1 percent. This marks the first time since February 2025 that fuel prices will see an upward adjustment at the pumps.

In a brief released by the Chamber, market dynamics likely influenced by fluctuations in international crude oil prices and currency depreciation—are believed to be the key drivers behind the upward trend.

If implemented as projected, the fuel hikes could affect transport fares, food prices, and general cost of living, prompting renewed calls for government intervention or subsidy realignments.

The Chamber has advised consumers to prepare for the changes and to follow updates from individual Oil Marketing Companies for confirmed pump prices.
