If You’re at Abossey Okai Today, Here’s Why the Streets Look Different
Abossey Okai is undergoing a major clean-up exercise today, led by the Ablekuma Central Municipal Assembly in partnership with the Ghana Prisons Service and Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association.

The Ablekuma Central Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the Ghana Prisons Service and the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association is holding a clean-up exercise at the Abossey Okai spare parts market.
The exercise is taking place on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. It is aimed at improving sanitation and creating a healthier environment for the community.
According to the Assembly, the clean-up is part of a broader plan to decongest the area and relocate some spare parts dealers to Afienya or Dawenya.
The Assembly has stated that the date and time for the exercise were agreed upon after consultations with stakeholders. The initiative forms part of the Assembly’s long-term strategy to make cleanliness a shared responsibility for all residents and business operators in the municipality.
In addition, the Assembly indicated that the clean-up will be followed by a broader sanitation drive and discussions are underway to establish an Environmental Cleaning Task Force to sustain the gains of the exercise.
The Assembly is calling on traders, residents, and all stakeholders to fully cooperate to ensure the success of the operation and maintain cleanliness in the area beyond today’s activity.
