Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a sharp warning on Monday following deadly Iranian missile strikes that killed five Israeli civilians and injured dozens more.

In a fiery statement, Katz condemned Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, accusing him of deliberately targeting civilians in an effort to pressure Israel’s military to halt operations.

“Khamenei is a cowardly murderer and a boastful dictator,” Katz said. “He thinks terrorizing our civilians will stop the Israeli Defense Forces. He is wrong. Tehran will face the consequences — and soon.”

The overnight attacks struck four sites in central Israel, prompting emergency evacuations and sparking fears of further escalation in the region. Among the dead were two elderly couples and a fifth individual, while over 90 others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Katz emphasized that Israel has no intention of backing down. “We will defend our people. We will respond with force. And Tehran’s residents will understand what that means.”

The latest exchange comes amid growing fears of a wider conflict, as both nations continue to trade threats and military strikes.

International leaders have urged restraint, but with tensions mounting and casualties rising, the region faces an increasingly uncertain and dangerous future.
