Police Allegedly Break Omoyele Sowore’s Hand During Detention in Abuja

Omoyele Sowore, the 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has reportedly suffered a broken hand while in police custody.
The incident allegedly occurred on Thursday morning at the Force Intelligence Department (FID) facility, located within the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja.
According to a statement shared on Sowore’s official Instagram page, a team of police officers led by a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Monitoring Unit stormed his detention cell around 6 a.m., assaulted him, and broke his right hand before moving him to an undisclosed location.
Sowore was detained on Wednesday after he reportedly honoured an invitation from the IGP Monitoring Unit.
