Shatta Wale’s Lamborghini seized in joint EOCO-FBI probe
Ghanaian Music Star Implicated in Ongoing International Financial Crime Probe

In a dramatic turn of events, the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has seized a luxury vehicle from popular Ghanaian dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, following a joint operation with the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and the United States Justice Department.
According to a press release issued on 5 August 2025, the seizure followed a lawful search conducted at a residence in Trassaco Valley Phase 1, Accra. The operation was part of a wider investigation into the financial dealings of Nana Kwabena Amuah, a convict currently serving an 86-month sentence in the United States for various financial crimes.
The operation was carried out by EOCO’s Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit (SARU) and resulted in the discovery and seizure of a 2019 Lamborghini Urus. Both the FBI and the US Justice Department have linked the vehicle to proceeds from Amuah’s criminal activities.
Although the operation was conducted without incident, Shatta Wale reportedly pleaded with officers not to make the seizure public, citing potential damage to his public image. He argued that the vehicle was closely tied to his brand and that being seen in the custody of EOCO could harm his reputation. As a result, he was permitted to surrender the vehicle voluntarily.
The press statement confirmed that the car is now in EOCO’s custody, and further legal proceedings are underway. The FBI and the US Justice Department plan to request a formal Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) from the Government of Ghana to have the vehicle returned to the United States as part of a $4.7 million restitution linked to Amuah’s case.
Shatta Wale and a former senior officer of the National Signal Bureau (NSB) have both been named as persons of interest and will be invited by EOCO for questioning as investigations continue.
EOCO noted that it may share its final investigative report with its American counterparts to ensure full cooperation in the ongoing probe.
