Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister of Finance, told the newly elected Board of Trustees of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) that the government has paid off all debts owed to the Fund.

Dr. Forson spoke at the ceremony in Accra and said that the government is still committed to keeping Ghana's pension system going. He also said that all debts to SSNIT have been paid in full. The promise comes after more public attention has been paid to how pension funds are managed and calls for SSNIT to be more open about its investment choices have grown louder.
