UFC Legend Randy Couture Hospitalized After Serious NHRA Practice Crash in Kansas City

UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture has been hospitalized after a serious crash during a practice run at a racetrack in Kansas City, TMZ Sports reports.

The 62-year-old former fighter, actor, and Army veteran was preparing for his first season in the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) when the accident took place on Tuesday. His car was badly damaged in the crash, but the cause remains unclear.

Couture suffered burns on his hands and face, along with injuries from the crash and smoke inhalation. He was quickly airlifted to a nearby burn center, where he is now being treated. Despite the injuries, sources say he is expected to recover fully.

Couture has been known for his fierce competitive spirit. Recently, he started racing professionally and was working toward a license to race in the NHRA’s Pro Stock division. Just a few months ago, Scag Racing announced Couture would compete in its Pro Mod team in 2025.

“This is a new way for me to test that competitive streak I’ve had most of my life,” Couture said when the news broke. “Racing gives me a fresh way to push myself and leave a mark. I’ll bring my wrestling and martial arts experience into this new challenge and see what I can do. I don’t know how it will turn out, but I’m eager to try.”

Couture is one of the most decorated fighters in mixed martial arts. He was part of the first big wave of UFC stars, winning six championship titles. Moving into racing is seen as a bold new chapter in his career, which has included fighting, acting, and now, competing on the track.
