The University of Ghana has officially released its undergraduate admission lists for the 2025/2026 academic year, bringing relief and excitement to thousands of applicants across the country.
According to the Academic Affairs Directorate, successful candidates can now confirm their admission status via the university’s online portal. The announcement follows months of anticipation after the opening of applications in April 2025.
Admission Lists Published: UG released the lists on December 11–12, 2025, allowing applicants to check their status online.
Registration Start Date Revised: Course registration for first semester will now begin on December 15, 2025, earlier than previously communicated. Students are encouraged to register promptly to secure their preferred courses.
Cut-Off Points Maintained: Despite a decline in overall WASSCE performance in 2025, UG confirmed that its admission cut-off points remain unchanged, ensuring consistency in academic standards.
Support Services Available: The university has set up help desks to assist admitted students with academic and financial queries during registration.
“We encourage students to take advantage of this earlier start to secure their courses and complete registration promptly,” said Lydia Anowa Nyako-Danquah, Director of Academic Affairs.
This year’s admissions come against the backdrop of a sharp drop in WASSCE passes, from over 305,000 in 2024 to about 209,000 in 2025. The University of Ghana’s decision to maintain cut-off points underscores commitment to academic excellence, even as competition for limited slots intensifies.
