Ashanti Police Launch Investigation into Fatal Shooting at Asawase F-Line, Kumasi
The Ashanti Regional Police investigate a deadly shooting at Asawase F-Line, Kumasi, where a middle-aged man was gunned down by two unidentified motorbike-riding assailants. Public urged to assist with information.
Kumasi, Ghana – July 22, 2025 – The Ashanti Regional Police Command has opened a full-scale investigation into a deadly shooting incident that occurred on Monday night at Asawase F-Line in Kumasi, resulting in the death of a middle-aged man.
According to a police statement, two unidentified assailants riding separate motorbikes approached the victim at close range and opened fire before fleeing the scene. The brazen attack has left the local community in shock and mourning.
The victim was rushed to the Manhyia District Hospital for emergency treatment and was later transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he was unfortunately pronounced dead. His body has since been deposited at the Ebenezer Mortuary in Tafo for autopsy.
In the aftermath, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, visited the crime scene along with ACP Ebenezer Boyor and other senior officers to assess the situation. During the inspection, two spent shells believed to be from an AK-47 assault rifle were recovered from the scene as part of the ongoing investigation.
The police have condemned the attack as a "heinous crime" and vowed to track down the perpetrators swiftly and bring them to justice. Authorities are calling on residents to remain calm and support the investigation by providing any credible information.
"Anyone with information that can assist in the arrest of the suspects is encouraged to contact the nearest police station or call emergency lines 191, 18555, or 112," the police statement urged.
The Ashanti Regional Command reassures the public of its commitment to restoring safety and urges continued cooperation to combat violent crime in the region.
