Akwatia By-election: NDC’s Bernard Baidoo to win - Global InfoAnalytics
The survey, done between August 27 and 28 with a sample size of 2,050 voters across the constituency, showed Bediako ahead of his closest contender, Solomon K. Asumadu of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)

A recent poll by Global Info Analytics has tipped the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate, Bernard Bediako, to emerge victorious in the fiercely contested Akwatia by-election scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
The survey, done between August 27 and 28 with a sample size of 2,050 voters across the constituency, showed Bediako ahead of his closest contender, Solomon K. Asumadu of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to the final poll results, Bediako leads with 53%, while Asumadu trails with 47%, placing the NDC candidate in pole position ahead of election day.
The by-election has attracted enormous national interest following the demise of the deceased NPP MP, Ernest Kumi, occurred on July 7, which occasioned the vacancy.
However, the Akwatia seat, historically a swing constituency, has alternated between the NDC and NPP over the past twenty years, making the upcoming contest a major test of political strength ahead of the 2028 general polls.
Additionally, the elections noted that results reflect not only party loyalty but also voter concerns about unemployment, economic hardship, and access to social amenities, which have become defining campaign issues in the constituency.
Global InfoAnalytics added that undecided voters remain a critical factor, as their eventual choices could either consolidate Baidoo’s lead or narrow the gap in favour of the NPP’s Asumadu.
The Akwatia by-election is anticipated to be keenly observed nationwide, with security agencies promising massive deployment to ensure a peaceful exercise following incidents of electoral violence in previous years.
