NGOs Urge Consistent Support for Ghana's Vulnerable

NGOs and local activists are calling on the government and private citizens to provide more consistent support to vulnerable groups across Ghana who are currently battling poverty and food insecurity.

Speaking at a food distribution drive in Kasoa, the CEO of Rita Foundation, Mrs. Rita Agbanyo, made a strong plea for sustainable help. She argued that supporting the less fortunate should not be something that only happens during election years. Pointing to Ghana Statistical Service data that shows a 68 percent food insecurity and poverty rate, she pushed for long-term programs that address the root causes of these issues.

"We need policies that prioritize the poor, not just temporary fixes," Mrs. Agbanyo said.

Joining her in the call for action, musician John Zidor highlighted the need for a more conscious effort to help those living on the streets. He noted that the government needs to be more intentional with its reach.

"Government should give more attention to people on the street and take deliberate measures to help them," he said.
