Super Eagles Stars Donate ₦1m Each to WAFCON-Winning Super Falcons Squad

Six Super Eagles players have each donated ₦1 million to every member of the Super Falcons squad that clinched the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco.
The donors include team captain William Troost-Ekong, African Player of the Year Ademola Lookman, as well as Ola Aina, Alex Iwobi, Leon Balogun, and Joe Ayodele-Aribo.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed the gesture in an official statement, describing it as a commendable show of solidarity and support.
NFF President Ibrahim Gusau praised the donation, calling it an inspiring gesture for Nigeria’s girl-child. He also highlighted the various rewards presented to the team during a reception at Aso Rock, Abuja. These include:
National honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON)
A three-bedroom apartment in the Renewed Hope Estate
$100,000 cash for each of the 24 players, as announced by President Bola Tinubu
In addition, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum awarded ₦10 million each to all players and members of the team’s 11-person technical and administrative crew.
Describing the day as “magnificent for women’s football,” Gusau said the show of appreciation from both government and fellow athletes is unprecedented.
“President Tinubu has done what no leader before him has done. This will inspire young girls across the country to pursue excellence through sports and other noble professions,” he added.
