Telecel Ghana Foundation Donates 100 Laptops to KNUST
Telecel Ghana Foundation (TGF) has donated 100 brand-new laptops to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST)
The Telecel Ghana Foundation (TGF) has donated 100 brand-new laptops to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to support underprivileged students struggling to access virtual learning tools.
The donation, made during Telecel’s annual Ashanti Month celebration, is part of the university’s Support One Needy Student with One Laptop (SONSOL) initiative. This marks TGF’s second major contribution to the program, following a 200-laptop donation in 2021.
Leading the presentation, Telecel Ghana CEO and KNUST alumna Ing. Patricia Obo-Nai emphasized the foundation’s commitment to bridging the digital gap: “With these laptops, more students will now be able to participate fully in virtual learning, collaborate on projects, and take control of their academic future.”
KNUST Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson expressed heartfelt gratitude, noting that over 3,000 students face challenges accessing digital tools. She described the donation as a “multiplier investment” that would unearth the potential of gifted students from deprived backgrounds.
Student leaders echoed the sentiment. Samuel Afful, Vice President of the Students’ Representative Council, said the laptops would ease the burden of borrowing devices and give students the confidence to pursue their studies without fear of setbacks.
The initiative aligns with TGF’s Connected Learning pillar, which promotes access to digital tools and training for underserved communities.
