Devastating Floods Wreak Havoc in Kogi, Leaving Hundreds Homeless

Over 500 homes have been flooded in Kabba, Kogi State, destroying property valued at millions of naira. Many families now find themselves homeless due to the disaster.
In Ondo State, heavy rains over three days across all three senatorial districts caused significant floods, displacing hundreds of residents. Several bridges in affected areas have collapsed, cutting off residents from farms, markets, and workplaces.
Kogi residents reported that three days of continuous rain led streams and small rivers to overflow, submerging entire communities. The worst-hit area was Idde-Iyah in the Kabba town center, where the rain that started Wednesday night caused widespread damage.
The traditional ruler of Idde-Iyah, Chief Obahunlewo, the Obaladugbo of Ekiri Quarter, lost his home and personal belongings to the flood.
Lawal Abejide, a resident and community leader, explained that more than 500 households, places of worship, and over 1,500 farm animals were affected.
He described how Chief Obahunlewo, a retired police officer now receiving medical care, was devastated as his home was destroyed.
He added that the flood washed away the Source of Life Mountain of Redemption Church (Abosede) and all mosques in the area, leaving behind widespread destruction.
