According to a statement from the Greater Sudbury Police, officers were dispatched around 12:35 a.m. on July 2 to a residence on Lorne Street following reports of a violent domestic altercation.

Upon arrival, police found the injured woman outside the home and rushed her to the hospital. Inside the residence, they discovered the body of a 63-year-old woman, believed to be the suspect’s mother-in-law, who had suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
