Senator Ned Nwoko Sues Influencer Over Defamation Against Regina Daniels
Senator Ned Nwoko files legal action against influencer Timothy Gabriel over alleged defamatory claims targeting him and his wife, actress Regina Daniels.

Abuja, Nigeria – Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, has announced that he is pursuing legal action against social media influencer Timothy Gabriel, popularly known as Tuma, over what he described as false and harmful accusations against him and his wife, actress Regina Daniels.
The move was revealed through a statement released by the Ned Nwoko Media Directorate and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday.
Nwoko Responds to Public Challenge
According to Nwoko, Gabriel publicly challenged him and Regina Daniels to respond to the allegations and even encouraged legal retaliation. The senator said he has accepted that challenge and intends to take the matter to court.
“No one has the right to make offensive and false claims about others and hide behind social media posts or protests,” Nwoko stated.
Claims Described as Malicious and Provocative
Nwoko condemned the influencer’s remarks as reckless, offensive, and malicious, aimed at damaging their personal and public reputations. He emphasized that freedom of speech does not protect defamatory speech, nor does it allow for blackmail or hate incitement online.
“The internet is not above the law. Anyone attempting to destroy another’s reputation without evidence will face legal consequences,” he warned.
Legal Team Prepares Civil and Criminal Cases
The senator revealed that his legal team, which also represents Regina Daniels, is preparing to press both civil and criminal charges against Gabriel and any collaborators. He assured the public that they are proceeding based on strong, verified evidence.
Addressing False Personal Claims
Nwoko also dismissed the influencer’s claims about his private family affairs and supposed “evidence,” labeling them as deliberate fabrications designed to provoke public outrage.
“These lies are harmful, illegal, and unacceptable under Nigerian law,” he noted.
Warning to Gabriel and Supporters
Nwoko sent a strong message to Gabriel and those defending him under the banner of human rights, saying that freedom of expression does not justify the spread of falsehoods.
He added that the courtroom — not social media — is where this issue will be resolved, and reiterated that the legal system will set clear boundaries on defamation and online conduct.
“Defamation is not activism,” he concluded. “The rule of law will decide this, not trending hashtags.”
