On June 23, 2025, the Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, Hon. Julius Debrah, served as the Guest of Honour at the Ghana-China Business Summit, held at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra.
The high-profile event brought together senior government officials, Chinese diplomats, business leaders, and investors to explore avenues for deeper economic cooperation between Ghana and China.
In his keynote address, Hon. Debrah emphasized Ghana’s unwavering commitment to strengthening bilateral trade ties with China. He encouraged Chinese investors to leverage Ghana’s strategic geographic location and investor-friendly policies as a gateway to the wider African market.
> “China remains a key partner in our development agenda. We welcome all investments that drive innovation, create jobs, and enhance value addition across sectors,” he said.
Themed “Enhancing Economic Synergies through Strategic Partnerships”, the summit featured expert panel discussions, networking sessions, and presentations from key sectors including energy, infrastructure, agribusiness, technology, and digital finance.
H.E. Tong Defa, the current Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, also addressed the gathering. He reaffirmed China’s continued support for Ghana’s economic transformation, citing recent collaborations in infrastructure, renewable energy, and digital technology. Ambassador Tong emphasized the importance of trust, long-term commitment, and mutual respect in Ghana-China relations.
> “Our cooperation with Ghana is based on mutual benefit and shared prosperity. We look forward to deepening this partnership across new frontiers,” Ambassador Tong noted.
Several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed during the summit, focusing on projects in agro-processing, smart infrastructure, and clean energy technologies. The event also provided a platform for both countries to discuss expansion under the Belt and Road Initiative.
The summit concludes with scheduled visits to key project sites involving Chinese investment and engagement in Ghana’s industrial corridors.
