Honour the Elderly and Public Officials - Chief Cautions the Youth

The Chief of Gomoa Tarkwa in the Central Region, Nana Atta Kwakwa Egyir Opusu VII has cautioned young Ghanaians to respect their elders and avoid insulting public officials on social media.
Speaking with the media during a send- off ceremony of Rev. Paul Ngwintige at Kasoa Bethel Methodist Society, Nana Atta Kwakwa Egyir Opusu VII expressed deep concern over a troubling trend where young people, who have yet to fully experience life or make significant contributions, are using social media platforms such as Tiktok, Facebook, Instagram, X, etc. to hurl insults at senior citizens often under the guise of political discourse.
He noted that this behaviour frequently stems from differing viewpoints between the youth and public officials.
He also lamented the fading culture of honor in Ghanaian society, where respect for elders, authority, figures and spouses was once widely practiced.
He therefore called on the youth to show honour to God, and show honour to their family members and those in authority.
REV. Paul Ngwintige also expressed gratitude to his church members during his send Off Ceremony at Kasoa Bethel Methodist Church Society.
