MKO Abiola's Paternity Claims: 66 "Children" Fail DNA Tests, Son Reveals Truth

According to Olalekan Abiola, one of the sons of MKO Abiola, 66 of the 120 children claiming to be his father’s after his death on July 7, 1998, failed DNA tests. Olalekan explained that many women who sought Abiola’s help tried to claim his inheritance. Some even changed their children’s last names to Abiola by secretly altering their records after his passing.
He shared that his father was generous and helpful to many women, including single mothers. Abiola paid rent, provided food, and offered shelter to women in need. In his will, he clearly stated that all children claiming to be his should undergo DNA testing.
Olalekan said that what he admired most about his father was his strong faith in Islam. His father’s actions reflected Islamic teachings, which emphasize charity. He never drank alcohol, went to parties, or gambled. The only negative thing some might say about him was his many relationships with women. However, most of these women came to him voluntarily, often with children, claiming their husbands had abandoned them.
They asked for shelter, school fees, and food. Every month, many women would line up at his house to receive money. Some were given apartments or houses. Over time, they started calling themselves Mrs. Abiola, though many were not. Some changed their children’s surnames to Abiola as well. That’s why he included the requirement for DNA testing in his will.
Between the women claiming paternity, 120 came forward. In the end, only 54 children passed the DNA test, meaning 66 did not. These were women who approached him, not the other way around.
